Greatly known for its famous beer festival, Oktoberfest and important historical events like the World War II, Germany is one of the most gorgeous countries in Europe offering beautiful landmarks wherever you go. Located in the center of Europe, Germany has a huge advantage towards the imports and exports and it has now transformed into the most economically powerful country in the world. Due to the fact that Germany has so many places to visit, I decided to narrow down to the top 5 cities you need to visit if you travel there.

5.Hamburg

Coming in at number five is Germany's second biggest city, Hamburg. Due to its access to the sea, Hamburg is one of the busiest ports in Europe, partly because Germany is one of the biggest door to access the oldest continent.

Take a visit to what used to be the tallest building in the world in the 19th century for quite a short time, St.Nicholas, and get amazed by the architecture style it possesses. Also an interesting fact is that Hamburg is the city with the most bridges in the world, having 2,300 of them over the city, so there is almost no chance for you to leave without witnessing at least one. If this was not enough, you can always consider taking a boat tour in the Alster Lakes where you can enjoy the beautiful scenery there.

4.Cologne

One of the most favorite places to visit for tourists in general is Cologne. Located on the Rhine River, Cologne is as a city that offers all. Starting from its landmarks and attraction to art and culture, Cologne is the city which every type of tourist finds him/herself.

After enjoying this buildings take a walk to the Eiserner Steg (Iron Bridge) and witness all the love locks attached to it.

The real home of Oktoberfest comes in at number 2. Munich is a city which is mostly known for its incredible beer festival, but also for the gorgeous scenery it provides.

One of its greatest landmarks, the National Theater, built and burnt down three times is one of the most important place to the residents, but at the end of the day the number one tourist purpose to why they visit Munich is without a doubt Oktoberfest. Started 1810, this festival has transformed into a global event inviting each year millions of tourists in an atmosphere of beer, Bavarian food and traditional music.

1.Berlin

Leading this list is the famous capital with a huge history thrown at its back, Berlin. The federal city is greatly known in history for its division between East and West Germany by a wall during the Cold War as well as one of the most important places during World War II.

Even though history doesn't mention the greatest events happening in the city, Berlin is now a diverse and multi-ethnic city with some important landmarks. Tourists visiting the city mostly look to see the Brandenburg Gate and the Reichstag, two important landmarks in Germany, where in the Reichstag you may have the chance to see some debris of the Berlin Wall.
