One of the toughest countries to visit due to its visa issues, Minsk, is a place worth waiting to receive it (the visa) due to its astonishing historical architecture and landmarks. The capital of Belarus is located 340 km northeast from Warsaw and 120 km southeast from Vilnus. Due to its historical background, with all the wars that it has passed, Belarus has been a difficult country to enter, but now they offer a 5 day visa for foreigners to visit and the landmarks that this place offers are incredible. Here we are going to take a look at the top 5 things to do once you are in Minsk.

5.Watch a Classic at Raketa Cinema

A historical and important place for the locals and tourists will value it as well. The Raketa Cinema will give you the enjoyment as if it was the first time you have been in a cinema.

Reason to why this spot has such great value is that here you can watch all the cinema classics as well as the art house films, screened in the original language with Russian subtitles. You may say that if you have no idea of either language what is the point on visiting, but trust me its an experience that you will value after you are done. On the other hand if you are not enjoying the movie at all and the language is frustrating you, you can always take a nap at the chairs there, because they are extremely comfortable! Just make sure you do not visit Minsk during July or August since the cinema is closed at that time of the year.

4.Entertain at the Belorussian State Circus

Another great way to entertain yourself in Minsk is by visiting the Belorussian State Circus. An incredible architecture made by the Soviets during the invasion, the Circus remains one of the most gorgeous buildings in Minsk.

Here you are able to see the reflection of the Belorussian people, incredibly positive with some great sculptures, mostly for comedy purpose and of course most importantly you can see the great circus shows hosted in this beautiful building. Absolutely a place worth spending your time and being able to take in a part of Belorussian culture.

3.Admire the Murals of Kastrychnitskays St.

This certain landmark is worth visiting for many reasons. The Murals of Kastrychnitskays St. are great street art made by a collaboration of Belorussian artist Cowek and Brazilian artist Rogério Fernandes.

And yes you read that right, the Belarus and Brazilians collaborated in a great project wich covered this marvelous street art. The walls are just covered in pure greatness with a mixture of Cowek's folklorist art and Fernandes's Van Gogh type art. This gorgeous art represented in the street's of Minsk will amaze you and chances are you will remain in one spot admiring the work.

2.Enjoy the Ferris Wheel

If you are the lazy type to go around and visit every single landmark, Minsk offers you a solution. In the gorgeous Gorkiy Park, you can take the Ferris Wheel and admire the city from quite a high view.

A jaw dropping experience once you are on top and see the beautiful city of Minsk, especially if you go during the night while the lights of the city are on, you can admire the view for hours, with the golden lights creating an incredible scenery. Finding the Ferris Wheel will be very simple once you enter the park and you should definitely put this experience on your list.

1.Visit the Independence Square

After all your activities mentioned above, you should definitely leave a reasonable time to visit the Independence Square. A landmark that has a lot to say, historically wise, is located in the center of Minsk.

One of the spots with the greatest value for the locals and historians, the Independence Square contains some of Belarus's important buildings like the Church of Saints Simon and Helena, the House of Government, the Minsk University, etc. An area which may slightly create an idea to how the Soviet Union was structured and the architecture that is greatly provided in this square. As I mentioned earlier, after wandering around the city, the Independence Square deserves a special time on its own to be seen as to how great and beautiful Minsk is.
